I have a Nikon D50 digital camera and just bought on line a digital accessory kit which includes a 52mm UV filter. This is useless for me, and I thought the filter was going to be a universal size, but it does not fit on the end of the lens. The lens is a 28-80mm, which is the one most commonly bundled with the D50 SLR, so i feel a bit foolish at having bought this.
I have read the answers posted so far and am still a bit confused–I am very new to this. The symbol on the lens for filter size has a 58 after it. The lens is a Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G, I had trouble finding this on the B&H site and felt a bit overhwelmed by the Nikonians boards.

Panasonic digital camera won’t import to pc?

I don’t know why, but when I went to import a video onto my PC, it would connect, but then just sit there and nothing would happen. I’ve imported things before (including videos), and it would always work. I don’t know why it’s suddenly doing this. And the video’s not in the files or anything, so I know it’s not working. I’m not very computer savvy so I don’t really understand why this is going on. Can anyone help? Thanks, it’s appreciated.

What does the mm mean in a lens? Why don’t SLR lenses just tell me their optical zoom like P&S cams do?

I look at Point & Shoot cams and they flat out list their zoom capabilities like “10x optical zoom”. SLR lenses list their mm. What do the mm mean for the lens, and how do I tell how far they will zoom?

Thinking about making the upgrade from manual SLR (Nikon F65, much loved) to a digital SLR (considering the Nikon D90). My question is, will my lenses that mount on my F65 be usable on a D90 (or if not, any other digital SLR)?

My kids accidentlly put my digital camera in the washer machine and washed it. Right now its coming on and showing the directions and stuff, but no image is coming on the screen. Its a 5 mega pixel Vivitar Camera. I really love this camera and it was on sale when i bought it and they are making it anymore. Hey, Ive been looking for a camera for a couple days now and Ive come to a conclusion. The Nikon D50 with Nikon 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6 G Autofocus Lens for 500 dollars or the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT for 600 with Canon 18-55mm EF-S Lens. I am going to use this camera to take sports pictures and Im not sure which one would be best for that, keeping in mind the 100 dollar difference.

Some say Nikons are better, some say Canons. What’s the cheaper camera, but better quality? The cheapest Canon I’ve found with lens kit is about $490, but it might not be a trustworthy site. I NEED THE LENSES, so don’t give me any links for just the body of the camera.

I’ve saved up around… 415 dollars for my camera, so if you can find anything close to that, that’d be great!

I want an affordable camera. $500.00 or less but I also want to be able to take good pictures, and I want to be able to control zoom and lighting. I used a borrowed manual Nikon and I really liked it.

I want a device that connects to a DSLR digital still camera that when a pic is snapped in the camera, a small printing device spits out a perforated ticket with the file name of that pic printed on each half of the ticket. Photographer tears the ticket it half, keeps half and gives the other half to the person or persons whose pic he/she just took.

I do not want a device that has to sit on a table while the photographer stands in one place and takes the pics. What I want is a device that’s either host powered or can use battery power that sits on the hip, belt clip, backpack or other convenient clothing or accessory item of the photographer which allows the photographer to roam freely throughout the event and snap pics, but to easily hand out the printed tix to people he/she snaps pics. of.

I have about $300 to spend on a new digital camera. I’m looking at either the Canon SD1000 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12K. I really just want something fast, good quality pictures, and a durable camera I can carry in my pocket. Crazy camera modes are also desirable.
Does anyone have either of these cameras who can tell me which one to go with?

My wife is getting a Nikon D80 Digital Camera (top of the line). She really wants a laptop computer with good specs to handle her new photos.
