Is it me, or do digital cameras distort faces. In all the pictures I take the subjects’ noses look larger and the faces look thinned our or enlarged. Is this due to the cheaper quality lens? Any suggestions on a decently priced camera that doesn’t do this ($100 to $200 range)?

I was driving to work when I came to a set of crossroads. When approacing the crossroads, driving in the left hand lane I passed through the amber light. there is a fixed red light camera present on the other side of the road facing my car. The lens went red as I passed by it. Am I likely to get a fine for this? even though it was on the opposite side of the road, facing my car?
