Are Kodak Brand Digital Camera Reliable?

I see many Kodak brand digital cameras for sale.
Two things make me hesitate to buy that brand.
One being is Kodak is better known as a film company.
The other is if the cameras are actually made by Kodak or outsourced.
I see they are slightly cheaper than the well known brands like Olympus, Nikon, etc.
I would rather pay a little extra for a good camera if they are substandard.
Would anyone recommend them for amateur to “wanna be” pro use?

It’s a Kodak EasyShare C533 5 MP camera. It takes okay videos but they aren’t great. Live view is on. Also, is there any way to change/increase the frame rate. I take videos of speakers and it suck that it’s not quick enough to capture the motion.

The reason I ask is that I have a canon SLR EOS XTi, and I was looking on amazon.com. I found a kodak one that was a fraction of the other brands. should I buy the kodak one or do I need to pay more for a canon brand?
