I want to install a Home Security Camera System. I don’t want to buy a prepackaged kit because I want to invest in better camera’s. What will it take for me to build a system if I buy a used monitor and CPU and new camera’s? I don’t know what else is needed to create my system.

I just bought a Nikon D80 body. This is my first SLR and I have not bought any lenses yet. I was planning on buying two lenses. I was going to buy the Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens for $119.95. I am trying to decide between these two lenses: Nikon 55-200mm f4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens for $155.70 and Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Nikkor SLR Camera Lens for $139.95. If anyone could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it.
Since I am new to this I don’t really understand the differences between the two lenses. What is it saying when it says 55-200mm or 70-300mm? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both? Thanks!
Also, what lens would be good for landscapes and relatively inexpensive (<$160)

Every year the kids in my neighborhood decide to steal my christmas decorations or vandalize them.. I need a security camera for at night that can go about 30-40 feet…I want to catch the rats. I do not want to spend a lot of money and I think one camera is good enough.

I have a 12.2 MEGA PIXEL Samsung camera. It works perfectly in day light and when the pictures are taken inside. But at night time when I take pictures outside, even with the flash, the picture comes out really dark. I have tried to change the settings but they don’t really work…help on what I should change the settings to?

The camera’s primary use will be to capture photos of quick moving stingrays and fish in aquariums (without causing blurry photos). I am looking at the Nikon d3000. Is this good for the purpose I need? I am also wondering what I should be looking for? Does the camera need to have higher megapixles or less? Does the megapixles matter or just the lens? Any help would be great!

I’ve always liked taking pictures but I’ve never really had a real camera just mainly point and shoot kind of cameras, what kind of camera do I need to start out taking real pictures? I’ve heard of digital SLR’s but I’m not sure if that’s what I need or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated…I’m open to specific camera suggestions as well…although right now I can’t go over 8-9 hundred bucks right now.
